The Tidewater Area play therapists worked with the APT office to help the participants enjoy their time learning and playing in Virginia. Tidewater Spark Plugs, Debbie Balak and Robyn Rennie, teamed up with Terry Kottman and Louise Guerney to provide excellent workshops for the professionals and parents in the area. WELL DONE!
VAPT again received acknowledgement of our branch accomplishments by receiving the GOLD BRANCH award. We were also recognized for our 35% increase in membership!! Robyn Rennie was recognized for her stellar recruitment successes. REMEMBER, the 2004 MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN and PRIZES is on. Make sure your membership is current and find two or three friends to join in, too!! See this newsletter and the national for descriptions of what you may win!! LET’S DO IT AGAIN, VIRGINIA!!
The APT conference keynote speaker, Dr. Stuart Brown, showed us the universality of play in the world and invited us to dance. Visit his Institute for Play website at http://www.instituteforplay.com/ for a playful interlude!
We created a playful community of learners with Dr. Garry Landreth for our summer annual conference. VAPT members Joyce Meager and Suzanne Gregg provided workshops on the play therapist in court and attachment issues with children who are adopted, respectively. We had over 130 participants!
We have a new website address http://vapt.cisat.jmu.edu and will be conducting almost all our VAPT membership correspondence by email (to help save printing and mailing costs). This means a different type of reliance on you, the VAPT playmates, to help spread the word about the power of play.
Playfully,
Anne
