Tips for Teachers and Trainers:
Many of the activities in All Together Now! could be adapted for young children with disabilities. Ask students/colleagues to select one or two activities and think about how they would modify the materials or the sequence to support the participation of all young learners.

New Resources from Teaching Tolerance

Diversity in Children’s Lives: Children’s Books

Looking for high quality children’s books that reflect children who have special needs? Or stories that depict capable, culturally diverse characters? This 22-page bibliography lists books that feature positive images of children and adults who are culturally, linguistically and ability-diverse. Cultural Competence Web Resource

The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) recently launched a dynamic section on their web site related to culturally competent practice. Visit the NASP site at http://www.nasponline.org/culturalcompetence/index.html to access a comprehensive menu of resources, including definitions, research, links, frequently asked questions, reports and PowerPoint presentations, all with emphasis on educational practices for students, families and others from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
